Volkswagen and Xpeng formally revealed their first joint development project.
The ID UNYX 08 lands as a full-size electric SUV measuring five meters long, nearly two meters wide, and riding a 3.03-meter wheelbase that surpasses both Tiguan and Atlas.
The SUV represents the production form of April’s ID.EVO concept car shown at Auto China, keeping remarkably close to original design.
Clean sculpted surfaces, frameless doors, blacked-out A pillars, and prominent rear shoulders all carried over. The best detail is the illuminated wolf badge mounted on the third brake light beneath the rear spoiler.
Production tweaks stayed minimal. Headlights and taillights got slight reshaping, new shut lines appeared on the hood and tailgate, and visible ADAS sensors replaced the concept car’s smoothness.
Flush door handles and minor bumper adjustments complete the changes. One official image shows five-spoke alloy wheels with copper diamond cut finish gripping Brembo brake callipers.
The platform likely comes from Xpeng’s G9 though VW hasn’t confirmed this officially.
Rear motor output matches the G9’s 308 horsepower, while all-wheel drive adds a 188 horsepower front motor for a combined 496 horsepower.
That dual motor setup pushes total system output well beyond typical family SUV territory.
Power flows through an 800-volt architecture supporting fast charging, though exact speeds remain unannounced.
Current Xpeng G9 hits 525 kW after its latest facelift so expect similar capability here.
