Volkswagen has unveiled a one-off ID Buzz inspired by Bob Marley’s well-known connection to the classic T2 Microbus. The reveal took place at the 2025 IAA Mobility show in September, with Marley’s son, Rohan Marley, personally presenting the tribute model to the public.
The custom ID Buzz features Marley Yellow paintwork, a lion emblem and Rohan’s signature along the body. The design references the second-generation T2 Microbus that Bob Marley owned and drove in the 1970s.
That model was produced between 1967 and 1979 and became closely associated with his travels and image.
Volkswagen’s modern version keeps the spirit of the T2 alive while moving into the electric era. The ID Buzz preserves the familiar Microbus character and introduces autonomous capability and zero emissions driving.
Bob Marley’s connection to the Microbus was both cultural and personal. The original model launched in 1949 and grew into a symbol of freedom and youth culture across the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. For Marley it was more than transportation and reflected his way of living.
Rohan Marley said the tribute vehicle links his father’s generation with how people will move in the future. It recognizes a family story and reintroduces that legacy to a new audience.
The Marley edition of the ID Buzz is not just a themed paint job. It shows how a historic nameplate can return in a meaningful way through electric design and modern technology.
