Toyota introduced a brand-new Corolla Concept that looks nothing like the safe, predictable sedans wearing that nameplate for decades.
The reveal came during today’s New Project event broadcast on Toyota Times, showcasing three intriguing models alongside new commercials for Toyota, Lexus, Century, and Daihatsu brands.
The Corolla Concept appeared at the end of Toyota’s To You commercial, with a design that contrasted strongly with the current model.
The design elements consist of a coupe-style body shape and complete LED light bars at the front and back, and sporty bumpers which resemble those used on GR performance vehicles.
A charging port door on the driver side front bumper hints at either full electric or plug-in hybrid powertrain.
The absence of visible tailpipes at the rear suggests this is actually a battery electric vehicle, though they could be hidden.

Regular side mirrors rather than camera units give the impression of being quite close to production readiness.
The short hood hints at dedicated EV platform underneath. The design features stand out through their pixelated daytime running lights, ducktail spoiler, and the beltline which slopes downward near the A pillars.
The bold styling signals striking new direction for the Corolla after decades of conservative design.
Toyota chairman Akio Toyoda, chief branding officer Simon Humphries, and guests from the advertising industry participated in the friendly TV show-style discussion.
The main goal was to present new commercials and preview models debuting at the Japan Mobility Show 2025 later this month.

The Corolla Concept will officially debut at the show, previewing a production model currently under development.
The vehicle contains a charging port, which suggests an electric version, but it seems unlikely that Corolla will stop using combustion engines.
Toyota’s long held skepticism that EVs will fully dominate suggests the gasoline variant has long life ahead.
The company could choose to market the electric Corolla together with the comparable gas version, which mirrors the design of the Lexus ES between its hybrid and electric versions.
The car’s complete information will become available on October 29 when the Japan Mobility Show begins its media access and introduces six wheel, Lexus LS minivan concept, and tiny utility EV from Daihatsu.
