If you want a new car that won’t lose half its value by the time you finish paying it off, buy a Toyota Tacoma.
According to Kelley Blue Book’s 2025 Best Resale Value Awards, the mid-size pickup holds an incredible 64.1% of its value over five years, putting it ahead of everything else on sale today.
The Tacoma’s dominance is no surprise. Toyota trucks and SUVs have long been depreciation-proof, and this year the brand locked down half the top 10 spots.
Trailing the Tacoma is the Chevrolet Corvette, which retains 61% of its value, followed closely by the Toyota Tundra at 60.9%. The Toyota 4Runner comes next at 60%, proving that family haulers can keep pace with sports cars when it comes to residuals.
Last year’s winner, the Ford Bronco, slipped to 57% from its previous 66.7%, while the Mercedes-Benz G-Class remains a unicorn in the luxury world.
Despite high sticker prices, the G-Wagon manages to keep 56.6% of its value after five years, down slightly from last year but still proof that the SUV’s status isn’t fading.
Other strong performers include the Honda CR-V (55.4%) and Toyota RAV4 (53.9%), both offering affordable routes into depreciation-proof motoring.
The Porsche 911 also makes the cut at 53.8%, while the Toyota GR Supra rounds out the list at 53.7%. With five models included, Toyota is once again the runaway resale king.
What makes the Tacoma so resilient? The latest generation, launched in 2024, brought big upgrades.
A new hybrid option pairs a 2.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with a 48-hp electric motor, producing 326 hp and 465 lb-ft. That’s more grunt than the outgoing V6, while still delivering better efficiency. Buyers can also stick with a 278-hp petrol-only version, paired with either an eight-speed auto or a six-speed manual — a rarity in this segment.
For off-roaders, trims like the TRD Off Road and TRD Pro pack serious kit: Bilstein shocks, locking diffs, 33-inch tyres, and Fox suspension.
The IsoDynamic seats in the TRD Pro even have built-in shock absorbers. For overlanders, Toyota offers the TRD Trailhunter, built for long-distance expeditions. And if you just want a comfortable daily driver, the Limited trim adds refinement to the mix.
In short, the Tacoma isn’t just the safest place to park your money — it’s also more versatile than ever.
