Jeep finally revealed the production Recon after three years of teasing.
The all-electric SUV draws heavy inspiration from the iconic Wrangler, bringing familiar boxy styling, removable doors, a spare tyre on the rear, and open-air roof options.
The concept first appeared in 2021 with production starting early next year at Stellantis’ Toluca Assembly Plant in Mexico.
Base price lands at $65,000, matching the Wagoneer S EV but commanding nearly $27,000 premium over the base four-door Wrangler.
Two electric motors combine to make 650 horsepower and 620 pound-feet of torque. That power delivery hits 60mph in 3.6 seconds, matching V6 and V8 sports cars.
The rear motor uses a 15:1 final drive ratio for improved power delivery, plus an electric locking differential. The front motor gets an 11:1 ratio with an open diff.
Range hits 250 miles per charge, lower than many current cheaper EVs.
The 100.5-kilowatt-hour battery pack feeds those hungry motors whilst top speed reaches 112mph.
The Selec-Terrain management system in the Moab trim offers five drive modes, including dedicated Rock mode.
The Recon measures about five inches longer than the four-door Wrangler but runs on a six-inch shorter wheelbase.
At 6,112 pounds, it’s considerably heavier and slightly wider than its height matches nearly identically. Cargo room favours the Wrangler slightly.
Moab trim’s 33-inch tyres deliver 9.1 inches of ground clearance with 33.8 degree approach, 33.1 degree departure, and 23.3 degree breakover angles.
The Jeep calibrated throttle delivers torque in a controlled, precise manner to satisfy the off-road driving experience. Trail Rated badge confirms serious capability.
Jeep’s seven-slot grille remains with each slot illuminated. U-shaped LED daytime running lights frame LED headlights.
Front bumper features two red recovery hooks protruding outward, protecting the LED-packed face and hardware behind.
Rear brings Wrangler-inspired LED taillights, swing gate, and full-size spare tyre carrier.
Like Wrangler, you can remove doors which feature modular cargo panels you can swap out.
Swing gate glass and rear quarter windows also come off. A dual-pane sunroof comes standard with an optional Sky One-Touch Power Top for open-air motoring.
Twin vertically oriented screens dominate inside with a 12.3-inch driver display and a 14.5-inch centre infotainment screen running Uconnect 5.
The Recon ditches buttons entirely, opting for digital HVAC controls.
Premium Alpine sound system includes speakers mounted under seats.
Second row seats fold, delivering 65.9 cubic feet of cargo space. Front trunk offers 3.0 cubic feet designed to fit a carry-on suitcase.
