Ford has finally given the four-cylinder Mustang some real attitude. The 2026 Mustang EcoBoost RTR, developed with Vaughn Gittin Jr.’s RTR crew, is built specifically to get sideways.

This isn’t a token add-on. It’s a proper factory-tuned package built for younger drivers who want real fun without spending big.

The base engine is a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder making 315 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque.

Ford says it features anti-lag technology derived from the GT race car, so boost delivery stays sharp when you’re driving hard.

You can opt for up to 350 horsepower and 400 pound-feet through Ford Performance parts.

Power transfers through a 10-speed automatic to the rear wheels, and an active exhaust system breathes through quad-tipped pipes that actually sound mean.

The brakes are where things get serious. Brembo units lift straight from the V8 Mustang GT, with six-piston front calipers and four-piston rear units.

Ford also grabbed the Dark Horse’s front and rear anti-roll bars plus its rear subframe with stiffer bushings.

The steering rack has an adjustable strut alignment bracket, allowing 72.5 millimeters of extra travel compared to the standard.

That’s purposeful geometry designed to make drifting easier. The MagneRide dampers get an RTR-specific tune, and the stability control system has a special Track mode that lets you explore the limit.

Standard equipment includes a hand-operated electronic e-brake perfect for initiating slides and a 600-watt cooling fan to keep things from overheating during extended sideways action.

The styling matches the mission. Think Hyper Lime accents on the seatbelts, center console, and hand-brake lever.

Lime stitching outlines the seats. The grille logo is blacked out, and RTR badging sits front and center. There are graphics on the hood and quarter panels plus 19-inch wheels with aggressive offset.

Customers can order the Hyper Lime calipers if they want maximum visual aggression.

Step inside and you’ll see illuminated RTR sill plates, a numbered dash plaque, and an RTR animation that kicks in when you open the door or start the car.

Gittin Jr. claims this is the most badass turbocharged Mustang ever built. The package only comes as a coupe for 2026.

Ford hasn’t announced pricing yet, but the base EcoBoost coupe starts at $34,300. If the RTR package stays under $45,000 total, it’s a genuine performance bargain. Deliveries start next summer.
