The haul, confirmed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, includes 62 motorcycles, multiple vehicles, artwork, drugs and even two Olympic medals.
Wedding, now 44, is a Canadian national who once represented his country on the world stage before allegedly pivoting into a far darker arena. He currently sits on the FBI’s FBI Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list, accused of running a transnational cocaine trafficking operation stretching across Colombia, Mexico, the United States and Canada. It is the sort of rise and fall story that feels closer to a Netflix crime series than real life.
The seizures were carried out across four properties in Mexico City and the surrounding state, with authorities estimating the value of the recovered assets at roughly US$40 million, or around AU$60 million. According to officials, the operation was the result of close cooperation between Mexican law enforcement, the FBI, the Los Angeles Police Department and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Images released by authorities show rows of pristine motorcycles lined up like a private museum, an almost absurd symbol of the wealth allegedly generated by the operation.
