Anthony Hamilton helped shape one of the greatest Formula 1 careers ever. Now, another side of his car life is going public.
The father of seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton is selling his private 27-car collection at Silverstone, with the garage expected to fetch more than £3 million (~$4 million) when it crosses the block on July 25.
The sale is being handled by Iconic Auctioneers during the BRDC Classic weekend, which already gives it a neat bit of theatre. These cars will be displayed at The Wing, beside the Hamilton Straight, at the circuit where the family name means more than most.

The collection itself is not what many people might expect.
It is not a row of modern hypercars, delivery-mile supercars and obvious celebrity flexes. Anthony Hamilton’s garage leans heavily into old British metal, the kind of cars collected by someone with a genuine taste for the country’s motoring history.
Of the 27 cars heading to auction, 23 were built in the UK.

The Jaguar Leads The Sale
The headline car is a 1994 Jaguar XJ220, valued at around £550,000.
It has covered just 3,800 miles and comes with a documented service history, making it the biggest-ticket machine in the collection.
Behind it sits a Jaguar XKSS recreation, estimated at £375,000, along with two C-Type recreations inspired by some of Jaguar’s greatest competition cars.
There are E-Types too, including two 1967 Series 1 4.2-litre Roadsters and a Series 3 V12 Coupé.
Anthony Hamilton clearly has a soft spot for Jaguar, but the collection does not stop there.
Aston Martin is represented by a 1974 V8 Series 3, a 1982 Lagonda and a 1998 V8 Coupé. Triumph fans get an Italia 2000 Coupé, a TR5 prototype and two early Spitfires. Mini lovers get several Cooper S models, plus two David Brown Mini Remastered cars.
There is also a David Brown Automotive Speedback GT, one of the more unusual modern British entries in the sale.
The Mercedes Link Feels Personal
The non-British cars add their own flavour. A 1960 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL, a 1989 Mercedes-Benz 300SL and a 2013 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Edition 507 are all part of the auction.
The C63 feels especially fitting, given Lewis Hamilton’s dominant years with Mercedes-AMG Petronas.
There is also a 1985 BMW Alpina B10, the lone BMW in the group.
Together, the collection feels less like a spreadsheet of investments and more like a map of Anthony Hamilton’s taste.
Jaguars, Astons, Triumphs, Minis, a few Mercedes and one proper old-school Alpina.
The cars tell a different kind of Hamilton story, away from the F1 trophies and paddock cameras.
One about British engineering, personal obsession and the quiet satisfaction of building a garage over time. Now someone else gets to buy the pieces.
